Alright man...I believe you.....I just don't see how it's possible to tune your low E string 5 steps down and still have it have any tension that would sound good. Oh well, sounds good man

heres a good example : Veillette Guitars. Produced in Woodstock New York
I know Steffan used Veillette Basses for a while
they are expensive, but I guess they are worth the difference in sound, and originality
