Yeah, I just got the email. I check my email right after his post and I didn't have anything but now I do.

Where'd you hear that was Leroi's nickname though? And should we assume Big Whiskey is someones name too?

Ya, apparently grux is something they used to call Roi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5EQr0N96Do you can hear them say that around 3:10). Big Whiskey is probably another reference to Roi:
Small town, Middle America is where the legend of Big Whiskey’s began. Throughout those 30 years this little corner tavern acquired quite a few regulars, but one of those regulars became a legend. My grandfather said this man wasn’t the average customer. He only came in a couple times a week and it was always between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. He had done it for so many years it became tradition.

The same thing each time...he’d come in, have a seat and proceed with his order. He would always tell the bartender, “I’m only going to have one, so make it a big one.” Over the years of him coming in to my grandfather’s place and performing his ritual, he eventually became known as “Big Whiskey.”

As my grandfather tells it, Big Whiskey was the kind of man who always had the right thing to say at the right time, whether it was a joke, story, or toast. Everyone knew if he was sitting at the bar, it was going to be a good night.

Uhh I think you guys are taking this way to seriously. Obviously it is probably just some title that they [dave] pulled out of their ass when they were drunk or something. Who the fuck cares what it's called  Jesus you guys are impossible if music isn't like the next best thing and totally serious like it's the beagles or some shit. And speaking of the beatles, I guess no one should have bought sgt. Peppers because it was a weird title... Now I know dmb are probably past their prime but c'mon lightenn up

Edit: iPhone typing made me type beagles instead of beatles

Just having a conversation about it, seems like you're the one taking the conversation too seriously. Obviously people are going to talk about it and wonder what it means.

I like it. And it's naturally going to be shortened to Big Whiskey anyway.

Bingo. A lot of Americans from the Virgnia-to-Southern U.S. have French names because the entire region belonged to the French. Leroi, Beauford, Lessard.
