like you just said, its limiting to use a capo in something like raised b, so dave retunes other guitars so he wont have to use one... this conversation is retarded and going nowhereelijah77jc wrote:the only additional tunnings i've heard of dave using is drop d and raised B. both can be by emulated with capos but when they are they are limiting.BigSpeen3436 wrote:someone needs to take reading lessons lol. He doesn't need a capo because he can just have additional guitars set up in different keys.... Because a capo is used to change the tuning on a guitar without having to manually retune each string. Therefore, if Dave has someone manually tune several guitars to different tunings, he will not need to use a capo. Ya follow me?
a capo is used so you WON'T have to retune your guitar if you want to play in another key but want to keep the same chord shapes. i don't know of anyone who retunes different guitars so they won't have to use a capo...because it's stupid
dave uses a capo?

Those are all songs that are played on an acoustic that require a tuning different than standard. I am 90% sure he uses a different guitar even for Drop D. At least with the band he does, I'm pretty sure he changes it during Storytellers. As for Last Stop, I don't see why he would need to switch guitars, but you never know.

come on now
the only DIFFERENT tuning i saw there was the wierd one for busted stuff.
Drop D takes a second to tune and i've seen him do it several times.
the raised B tuning is on his baritone guitar
you cannot use a capo to emulate a gutar that is tuned down. well you COULD but it wouldn't be practical at all. so he doesn't use it instead of a capo.
now i thought you said he tuned his gutar different so he wouldn't have to use a capo and thats what i was trying to correct.

 we're arguing about tuning
