last cover for a while: BOWA

Unread post by horsmar15 » Wed Dec 10, 2003 3:37 pm

Greetings, I will be leaving school to go back home for winter break tomorow, so I decided to squeeze out one last crappy cover before I left. This time I'll be covering a Dave song "The Best of What's Around". I realize that i screwed up in a few places (lyrics, ending, stuff like that) but I wanted to put something up before i left.
Anyways, I'll be leaving for about a month and so without my equipment I won't be able to record stuff. I'll still be on the boards every once and a while, but not quite as often. So that being said, check out this cover and feel free to comment and tell me how much this one sucks :D .

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": The food court is downstairs. The cookie stand is upstairs. It's not like we're talking quantum physics here.

Sounded pretty good, vocals were nice, the guitar seemed to stray from the original at times or sound different, but if thats what you were goin for it didnt sound bad. Overall it was good.

the guitar starts right off the bat with confidence and that's a major good thing. Your "hey my friend" comes off a little too hard... though it's true to your style and doesnt sound bad... this song is played at a very upbeat pace which is refreshing to hear =)

"see you and me have a better time then most..." sung with true mastery =) the whole first chorus is AWESOME.

i REALLY love how you interpreted this cover... though i would suggest you really slow down for a split second on the "really matters" and "you're around" and slow the transition into "if you hold on tight"... it may help emphasize it.

1:15 sounds fuckin graet... watch the "open" a lil before 1:20 you go a little off pitch.

Overall i really like the speedy-demon version of this song that you've pulled out, though i recommend slowing it down JUST A TOUCH not much... i like the energy behind it...

2:00 - 2:16 very very very clean and nice section...

the song finishes strong and goes strong. overall it's an EXCELLENT cover though a bit too fast to play live =)

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a positive response. Thanks for the comments so far, and based on them mabye I should practice this more and play it live.
