so i know a thread like this was up a couple weeks ago, but i just had so much fun
i was at a lock in for this christian youth retreat called Happening (maybe some have heard of it) and there's always a music staff, so me and this kid both knew a lot of dave stuff and we just didn't stop
first it was WWYS, the jam was amazing, best thing i've ever done with my guitar since i've started playing - after that it was a couple covers - watchtower and angel from montgomery
Not so much a jam story, but as mentioned in a previous post, my wife and I actually got to meet the band backstage before his last show in TO (for full story I think it's under Materialistic Dave) and he and Carter ad libbed Happy Birthday to her to the tune of What would you say. That was pretty damn cool. I held his Taylor while my wife got some photos, and Dave asked if I could play anything. I played the first couple bars of Crash Into Me (not bad either). Dave said he'll know where to send the band if he ever dies, or runsaway from boredom. By far, one of the best days of my life. Got a baby due in two months though, that'll probably top it...
thats really awesome man, and thats kinda how i always thought dave would be - kind and generous to his loyal fans - good luck in the future with your family
its almost like my friends and i don't have enough musical talent to jam.. one of us'll play something...and once in a while somethin'll come up... but most of the time we just sit there and say "damnit." any tips?
my one friend is like that, but i'm better at guitar than him
i'd say try and find someone just like you, cept you play bass right? so find a guitar player that likes what you listen to/play, and just go for it, see what happens, have a good time, thats why i started guitar in the first place - so anyway, just have fun with it, it'll work

just play, have some fun with it, use your imagination... there are not strict guidelines to jamming, its just music, very open-ended

i have 15 matty boom points, and frankly, i dont give a shit
I was walking down State Street once with my guitar, and I stopped at a guy who was playuing his sax. I asked him if he could do something with #41. He says he think's he could wing it. He didn't play much til the jam, and he just came on in for about 2 minutes. It was pretty fun, and then I throw in about 5 bucks in his basket, and kept on walking.
i jammed w/ this guy and his friends last thursday. it was awesome. havent jammed that much so its always a good time. we had 4 guitars goin so it was great. they played totally different stuff than i did so i learned like 30 songs that night. they would play their barre/open chords. once id get the pattern down id spruce it all up a bit w/ some cool slides and voicings. we seriously jammed for like 5 hours. a damn good time. find someone and jam. NOW!

exactly!!!
ok i guess ill throw in kind of a story... my cousin and i both bring our guitars to our family reunion and we were jamming to some riffs from some dmb and white stripes and some of his originals.. its cool cause we have the whole family watching us sometimes and theres like no pressure cause they dont care if you screw up, its so much fun
you cant even imagine how much fun it is until you do it
