Any tab requests? I was blessed with a good ear and i've got some free time on my hands for a while and would be pleased to lift any dave tunes for you guys. I'm not a big fan of tabs from the net and inaccurate DMB bass tabs tick me off. So, instead of saying the tabs around the net suck, i'll do something about it
We cover a lot of DMB when we play shows and we're playing the Some Devil stuff now so if you want that it's all locked away safely in my head. We played Gravedigger last night and people went nuts. Speaking of which, I'll get an accurate version of Gravedigger up as soon as I can with all the cool fills. I do commend that bartender guy for the effort though. We also do 'Stay Or Leave' now and even though it's cello, I had to write a bassline for it. It's nothing crazy, just outlines the chord voicings nicely but you need a 5-String to play my version and make a significant contribution to the feel of the song. Does anybody know a good tab software? Pretty frustrating when it takes me 15 minutes to lift a song but an hour to type it out in notepad and try and get the timing even so nobody gets thrown off. I always start tabbing a song but give up because the computer part of it takes WAY too long.

Accuracy is over-rated. If you are a good bassist you should not need an accurate tab to play a song, just something to jam to. I am against people playing stuff 100% like the tab, they should improvise to make it sound better and more like your style. If Stefan or other band members played each song exactly the same then DMB would not be a good touring act and would not be a successful act. The whole point of stuff like this is to help beginners out with stuff they cannot play but they should learn that the great part of bass guitar playing is its flexability and variety of fills they can add just by knowing the chord progression. This is why I encourage all bassists out there to learn as many scales as you can, it will broaden your style and your ability to solo and add fills and you can make up your own bass lines. I ONCE AGAIN URGE ALL BASSISTS NOT TO FOLLOW TABS 100% AND DEVELOP YOUR OWN UNIQUE STYLE...DO NOT RIP OFF SOMEONE ELSE'S.

Dude, Amen to that! I think what I was meaning is that alot of bass tabs aren't even in the right key though. They play the 5th and of course it sounds ok so they think it's the correct note and it's all downhill from there. Scale memorization is pointless. Learn arpegios and how modes are constructed then you can play scales on the fly. This is getting very technical but it's something very valuable that i'll type up and post up here for you guys. It's fun when you can go to a jam night and the lead calls out a progression and away you go creating a bassline on the fly.

That's a Washburn XB-500. I swear by them. They're not cheap, not too expensive and they've got active electronics which saves me from lugging around my amp to small clubs. I just go from my BOSS GT-6B straight to the sound board and use an in-ear monitor. I actually like this bass so much that I bought a new one just like it but in a different finish and I get to pick it up Saturday I'm probably gonna sell my old one though cheap to this kid who is really eager to learn. Us musicians gotta help each other out.

DUDE!!! VERY nice software, i'll start using it as soon as I can sit down and learn how it works. I don't want you guys to wait days for a tab cause i'm learning a software. I'll stick to notepad for now and sit down with this software on the weekend.

I'm actually a bit surprised you didn't know about it. Must be some sort of odd underground following that it has, hehe. The sheet music aspect is clutch IMO, very nice. Now if only it could export to PDF...
