chords?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

chords?

Post by Thomas »

first i want to say that this is an awesome website 8)

well i've been here for about a month and im having a lot of fun learning all of these new songs but i'm having one problem. i have no idea what i'm playing. for songs like crash into me and tripping billies, even though i can play them i have no idea what a lot of these chords are and this is a problem becasue i want to start using them in my own music but its pretty hard when you don't even know what you're playing.

i've read somewhere else that with a lot of his movable chords some shapes are majors and some are minors and you can tell what chord it is by the bass note or something. does anyone have any info on this?

thanks :o

the best advice i can tell you is to buy one of the tab books. they have the chord/implied chord above everything that dave plays. its actually really cool. it also have sheet music for geeks like fatjack that can read that stuff. :D

get guitar pro 3 or 4 there a program on that software that lets you put in the fingerings of the chord and it will tell you what is is and tell ones that are like it

Yep. And contrary to what most people think, the album tab books are excellent; they are as accurate as this site.

i don't know if i would go that far. the books are based on what's on the albums and many times is just tim reynolds overdubs and not "the way dave plays it" so you are so right you went a little too far in that.

Whoa. First, I don't understand your last statement. And second, I did a side by side comparison between the site's tabs and the book tabs, and in 95% of the situation, they were exactly the same. Not to be rude, but are you not going to believe that I compared the two and found them to be similar? And in the cases where it wasn't the same, it was either dubs or it was the exact same notes in a slightly easier format.

Just my 2 cents.
