Hey guys,
My grandfather passed away back in the spring. He could tear a piano up and he had a great voice. My grandmother was going through some of his things and found a cassette. She started playing it and it was him, playing some gospel hymns and singing. What a treasure to find!
Here's where I need help. I've used Cool Edit Pro quite a bit to record myself playing, and I've converted a few vinyl records to cd. I've recorded the tape with cool edit pro and I'm in the touching up stages now. I have the basic idea on how to reduce hiss and other noise, but I was wondering if there's anything else I can do to it. I want this to sound as perfect as possible. Does anybody have any pointers or anything, that can help me get this cleaned up and sounding really good? I'm gonna make a cd of it and burn copies for the family. Thanks.

CEP 2.0 has two FFT filters that I use (Kill mic rumble, and kill subharmonics). I also do the Hiss Reduction Preset. Whatever you do keep a backup of your source file and you may want to save "stage" backups after each filter you apply so you can get back to any point. Good luck!
