Question for anyone who can play YNK . . . .

So i finally put one of my guitars in raised-B to learn YNK and Stay or Leave properly, and I've got YNK, in my opinion, down pretty good. But i just can't play along with the cd? Its like the only song that i can't keep up with when actually listening to it. . . . does anyone else have this problem. I seem to get really lost by what boyd and carter are playing. Just thought i'd see if anyone else has this problem.

I know what you mean, Carter goes off in ghost beats on that song like there's no tommorow. If only Dave and Tim did a version....it'd be easier..

Dave plays...REALLY slow. A lot slower than you think. It's hard to play along becuase of what Carter is doing, yes, and that's becuase he's doin it fast. Try to get the Sinclair video of YNK from 5/12 or something like that. It helps

the reason you may be having problems is that part of the song is in 11/8(at least i think so), and thats why those drums beats are kinda weird...

it just feels like you skip a beat on right on the quick slide up then slide down thats in the pre chorus

No, it's most quite definitely in regular 3/4 or 6/8, no 11/8 about it. Carter's drumming is so bizarre that beats fall in weird places, but they're all there. I wrote out the riff, in notes, in a program I have called NoteWorthy composer, in 6/8 time and at the right tempo it syncs perfectly with the actual song. Carter is definitely weird, but the guitar part isn't.

i think it is in 11/8 sort of. i think the tab book goes 4/4 4/4 3/4 .....so 11 beats anyway. it's been months since i looked at it.

ah i see... 5/8, i knew there was an oddmeter in there somewhere... it may not be in. i knew for the most part it was in 6/8, but i felt an oddmeter somewhere in the pre chorus...
