When do you keep your wrist planted?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

When do you keep your wrist planted?

Post by i-am-me »

Well the main question is when do you guys keep your wrist planted on the guitar and when do you keep it off. for example, warehouse would definetly be off cause its all strumming. but then a song like the stone would probably be planted cause its picking right? or am i totally off. but what about like tripping billies. the verse could be played both ways? if i'm speaking complete gibberish let me know. lol thanks

Of the three songs you mentioned i-am-me, that's what I do as well. Billies I sometimes rest it for muting, but I could also just strum away, deadening the strings with my left hand instead.

I don't think he ment for muting did you? Dave plants his hand when he half strums meaning plays two or three strings at one time this is how he plays Stone and I am not sure because I don't play Warehouse but i believe he half strums in partsof the intro. It is not often that Dave picks in songs. Hope this Helps.

I almost never keep my hand planted, but thats kinda because i can't palm mute worth a damn, so theres really no point in keeping my hand there.

with most dave songs (espically "picking") ones, dave just strums wildly and mutes all the strings that arent suppeosed to ring... so you cant really have you hand planted on the bridge to play them properly... but you dont have to play them properly
