Question from a novice...

Post by foodstufftragedy »

Hey -- I'm a new (a year) guitarest, and am really enjoying playing. However, my guitar is absolute crap. I'm currently playing a Fender Squire (I know, I know, I just needed a guitar to learn on...) and am looking to buy a new/used one. Right now, I'm leaning toward a solid body electric or an acoustic/electric. Does anyone have any suggestions? My budget is fairly limited, but seeing as how I'm also looking at used, please feel free to share any kick-ass guitars you may think of. Oh, I'm not looking towards playing soaring solos on lead - Much more strumming/fingerpicking for me...

Thanks so much,

yeah acoustics are the way to go for what you're looking for...
i have a takamine EG530SC and I really like it...its acoustic/electric. All takamines have good active electrons, they use the same as ovation if I'm correct because ovation bought them, and they are good. Taylors are excellent but can get somewhat pricy. My dad has one that he uses in his band and it was very nice. Go a store, play a lot of them (good brands though) and get what you think sounds the best and feels right. 8)
Rock on, brother...i play guitar

foodstuff - definitely consider the whole going to guitar center thing - not only will you find something you will truly be happy with, but you'll get to play some stuff you can't possibly afford (its fun in a depressing sort of way :P) but try takamine - i have the EG540SC, and its really great, and purdy....
