Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone had some good tips on strumming that they could give me.I'm kind of new to the guitar, about 8 months. I can play a decent amount of songs, but as my nice brother pointed out yesterday, other than different chords, I kind of have the same rythym/strumming for all of them.
If anyone has some tips on how to become better with keeping rythym.strumming, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

maybe try playing different kinds of songs. if you play mainly one style of music, they tend to have the same strumming patterns. also, try taking a song you know and try to make it sound totally different rhythm wise. throw in some crazy upstrokes and quick double down ups and what not. go crazy w/ it. also, it just takes time. some of it just comes w/ time. good luck to ya. 8)

the best way to learn diffferent patterns is to sit down and think of new ones on your own (this of course is assuming you can't read music, because if you can, i can tell you a much easier way). when you come up with new ones, practice them over and over again. try them at different speeds, and try to use as many types of rhythmic "expressions" (slaps, upstrokes, tremolo picking) as you can.
