What do I need for dave's baritone tune songs?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Or you can re-string a guitar to Raised B and play it an octave higher. Don't go doing anything stupid and try tuning it up to that or you'll just end up with a bunch of busted strings.

Ok, thanks. How do you think Dave sets his Taylor 714 (totaly "regular" guitar) to baritone tuning?

He doesn't. He uses a Jerry Jones baritone electric, or his custom made Taylor baritone acoustic. Without physically altering the guitar (which would involve a completely new neck, and removal and repositioning your bridge), you cannot tune a regular guitar to Baritone tuning.

I don't think he does, he has a custom Taylor Baritone Jumbo.

It's You Never Know and he plays Taylor 714 here.. and Taylor 714 is definitely not a baritone guitar.

According to this link: http://www.dmbtabs.com/faq.php?id=7 if you want to play You Never Know/Stay or Leave and some others, you either need a "raised B guitar" or either you can re-string your guitar. Dave uses the Taylor 714 in these songs (not a raised B guitar), so you want to tell me that he changes the strings as described in this link? I really doubt it!

There is no "Raised B guitar". Raised B is a tuning that requires you to restring your guitar like Nashville tuning (which is used on Hey You and Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd). For most shows since 2002 (with You Never Know being the first song using Raised B tuning), he keeps his Taylor 714-CE in Raised B tuning and uses his Taylor 914-CE as his main guitar in standard or Drop D tuning. He has been seen in Europe a few times with his backup 914 restrung to Raised B for Sister and Stay or Leave (he normally has two or three guitars of the same model in case a string breaks). I have a backup guitar strung to Raised B for tunes like You Never Know and Stay Or Leave.

Also, re-read that FAQ link, http://www.dmbtabs.com/faq.php?id=7 , because it tells you exactly what we've been telling you.

If you want to try and turn your guitar into a baritone guitar, go ahead, but better save up money first so you can buy a new one since you are going to fuck up yours.
