I've just bought a pretty cheap Epiphone 12-String, it was a little off tune when i got it so i tried to tune it and now its pretty badly out of tune. I've attempted to tune it back using a 6 string i have but i cant tune the treble strings any higher without hearing them poping at the pins and tightening to the point they are impossible to turn the tuner. If you know what im doing wrong any advice is appreciates.
also, next time you change your strings, take a mechanical pencil and rub some graphite in the string slits on the nut. That should increase friction a little and stop the "popping"
