Take two, with gay guitar licks and a revised outro with drums:

I really liked this especially the ending honestly. It made me feel happy like I was listening to a really bad ass intro to a Charlie Brown Christmas Special or something. But in a very good way, hard to explain. That could lead into something really awesome, I'd love to hear the final product.

Gay guitar licks? I wish I could play like that... I'd have to have it tabbed out and practice it 100 times before I could do something like that. I liked it.

Hey, listen to this if you would... I'm not trying to jack your thread or anything but I don't think what I'm very apprehensive to upload is worthy of it's own thread. And I would appreciate some feed back from a musician I highly respect.

It's a recording of an improvised solo over the chord progression for "Oh Sister" by Bob Dylan. I know next to nothing about theory. I was just bored a while back and thought I'd see if I could make something not sound like poop. It's a first take, for both tracks, and my recording equipment is just a $10 mic I got at office depot. Just tell me if I'm even close to staying in key and what not, if you would be so kind.

You're staying in key, but try to keep focus of the melody you're creating when improvising. Try to resolve melodies by concluding phrases on the 1st, 3rd, or 5th of the scale. You're using slides, but also try hammer-ons, pull-offs, and harmonies to add substance.

And about the "gay" guitar licks - I had to fill that space somehow, but I wasn't pleased with how it sounded (too contrived). The only word I could think of that fit it was "gay". teehee.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. It's so much easier to take when it's not like, "you suck, just drop the guitar". I'll work on those things you mentioned.

And yes, sometimes there's no better word than "gay".
