New Reverb Pedal?

Post by dmb66 »

I posted this over on antsmarching.org and didn't get a single response so I'm hoping for better luck here.

I believe I'm going to ask for the Marshall Reflector Digital Reverb pedal for Christmas, but I would like to know if anyone has any experience with this pedal before I do. I read the review in acoustic guitar magazine and the author seemed to like it, but I don't want to base my decision off of one source (though it seems credible). Any pros cons and/or suggestions are much apprecitated.

By the way, I'm playing a Larrivee D-03E with a B-Band UST ribbon transducer.

Here's a link to the pedal.

Thanks.

Boss is tried and true, notice it has 49 ratings and reviews, the marshall has 4. Not that it is a bad petal, but boss is industry standard and they are really solid. Pick em up on ebay for cheap to.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

agreed, i forgot about that one, it is sweet, though i thought it sounded better on electric than acoustic.

ya know ive never felt that I need more reverb than my amp could give me. I would think that a pedal like that would almost be unnessary, but im assuming that im wrong??

But yea the boss and that holy grail look alot nicer than the marshall.

good luck, let us know how it goes.

yea well then main reason i'm looking into a pedal is my amp has no reverb effect (uncommon i know). and i rarely use the amp in a live setting, usually just plug into the board via a DI (or use the amp as a DI).

I like the Holy Grail Reverb personally. Though I agree that you can never go wrong with Boss.

Well you guys have basically convinced me to go with the boss. However, it appears there are a number of problems with the power supply units to these pedals? Does anyone know a relatively cheap alternative that won't fail like the reviews of the Boss power supplies says they do?

I use this to power all my pedals. It only takes up one space on a power strip, and wont cover other outlets on your wall. This particular one comes with a chain to power 5 separate pedals.

I have that same thing, and it works great. I use it to power 4 petals and ive had no problems with it. It sucks that it wont power all pedals (digitech, other boss stuff). But I would highly recommend it.

Agreed, it doesn't work with some pedals, but I have two Boss stompboxes that it works fine with, and a Morley wah. I also have a Zoom effects processor that makes a god awful buzzing when I try to use this for power...but I chalk that up to anything Zoom makes sucking total ass...except for their drum machines.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. In the interest of trying to save Santa some money, would this power supply work with the Boss? I believe it would but want to be sure.

There's no telling without being able to see it. A lot of pedals have different size plugs.

I use the 1 Spot with a Boss Metal Zone and DD-5 Delay and I never have any problems. I have used it on a friend's Boss Chorus as well with no problem. You should be able to use it on any pedal that runs off of 9V of power. Like I said, the only pedal that I have a problem with is my Zoom multieffects, but I attribute that to Zoom products sucking total ass.

Hmm,
I thought the questioning was over. My dad called and he stopped by guitar center today to see what they had in. A sales associate tried to convince him that the Boss DD-6 was a better buy then the RV-5 claiming "it could do everything the RV-5 can and more". As a result, he didn't buy anything, but called me to hear my opinioin. I'm not sure that I have one honestly. I'm looking for a reverb pedal, and I know the DD-6 is a dedicated delay pedal (which would be sweet), but can the DD-6 really produce a decent reverb first of all? I have all of no experience with either so any input would be appreciated. I'm a little skeptical because I know how the people at Guitar Center are and my poor father doesn't know the difference between reverb and delay I'm sure. Thanks for any help, again.
