LIOG's at the gorge

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hmmm... I'll have to look into it. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but I didn't really listen to it in depth. I'll have another listen...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I saw him doing the same thing. It seemed kinda weird because i've never seen Dave solo. My friend reckons that he was just dinking around.

It sounds like Dave's just messing around with the jam, adding notes from the D major scale (D E F# G A B C#) that are adjacent/near the notes of the jam. He doesn't really play anything that really stands out as being weird or out of the ordinary, he just compliments the change of chords with subtle hammer-ons and stuff using notes from the key, following the chord changes. For example, he plays stuff like:

Code: Select all

little
lick------|
------------------------
------------------------
--7--7h9-7--4-4-6-------
------------------------
------------------------
-7-7--------3-3-5-------
and

Code: Select all

----------------
-----------------
--11---12-11---9---
------------------ etc.
--------------------
-10--10--------9---
then when it really slows down, he starts playing some notes, again, from the D major scale:

Code: Select all

          |--repeat-------|
--------------------------------
-----------8-7-----8-7------------
-7-6h7-7-6-----7-6----7-6-------
-----------------------------
-------------------------------
------------------------------
And then it goes back into the main riff/verse.
Thanks a lot for having me look into that. That was really cool. I probably wouldn't have recognized that just listening to it and not focusing on it. Pretty cool stuff. Anyway, I hope I was some help.

That means that the jam will continue, and I think he does do the same with the other chords, but only on certain occassions. You'll just have to listen for it.
