i thought that minaretts (ie screaming from the minaretts)
meant minaretts as in wooden puppets,
thinking of some metaphorical reason for these puppets to be screaming,
i did not know that minaretts were the towers from a mosque where the priest calls people to pray.
so its official (as if the last stop were not enough).

I didn't know what minarets were for a while and I wondered if it was just another word for marionettes, then I found out otherwise. That led to some interesting interpretations of the song, of course.
apparently you weren't the only one to make a mistake that is pretty dumb to make in my opinion. Marionettes has one more sylable than minarets so wouldn't fit. And i'm pretty sure minarets has only 1 t

dave hardly sings in a clear fashon and his mumbleing and screaming dont afford one the opertunity to closeley count sylables, and the song does make poetic sense if you think of screaming puppets and all the metaphore that could go with it.

I had no idea what the fuck a marionette was. So i learned something today.
I wasn't sure what minarets were either, but I always thought it had to do something with Spanish religion or something like that because the song always sounded Spanish-like to me.
My dad went to Saudi Arabia last year, and he said that a while ago (50 years or so), a priest would climb to the top of the tower several times a day to call for prayer, but now they have huge, ugly speakers mounted on the tops of all these beautiful towers I thought that was kind of sad.
