Suggestions for my next mid-range guitar ($500-$1000)

Post by jared »

After reading tons of posts and threads I've come down to:

Martin DCX1E (link)

Takamine EG334SC (link)

I used to be all about the brand name of martin, but after reading all the reviews I realize brand name doesn't always mean everything. I know lots of people here including Pat have the Takamine EG334SC and I KNOW it sounds good. (that and he's redic)

I'd love to hear suggestions of other Tak's and mid ranged guitars I possibly don't know about.

One final question, I live a mile or two from a Guitar Center. Should I risk ordering online with shipping, or just buy a new in box guitar from GC? I can usually talk down the price too... what do you guys think?

I have a Tak EG523SC. It's a Jumbo, so that might turn you off already, but I love the thing. Responds well to fingerpicking as well as strumming. Could be a bit more resilient in the really hard strum category though.

I advise to stray from any Martin with an X in the name. People here will suggest Larivée guitars as well. Fantastic instruments.

Larrivee D03RE

Takamine EAN40C

My personal favorites, not a lot of bells and wistles, all the money went into tone.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

I'm wondering how much I'll save if I wait for Guitar Center's Memorial Day sale... I can't find what deals they're offering next weekend.

dont pay askign price EVER at a guitar center. ask them what kind of a deal they can work out. you can always get freebies and money taken off.
