Just home, 12 midnight, from this 'secret show' and all I can say is wow.
There were about 70 or so people all gathered in a small BBC studio and we all sat on the floor in front of a small platform and Dave entertained us for about 2 hours in all with songs, chat, jokes and answered questions from members of the audience. It was almost "An Evening With..." type of do. I was at about 15 feet away from him - awesome as you might say...
Bob Harris interviewed Dave during the evening, after every couple of songs, and I dare say some of the interview will be edited for content as Dave's replies got more colourful
Now, forgive my memory but he played Bartender, So Damn Lucky, Stay Or Leave, Everyday, Gravedigger, a new song "Sister", Crash Into Me, Smooth Rider and Some Devil.
If I have missed any out blame the heat, the hard floor and the experience of being so close to him after all these years in the wilderness
I had to leave to catch a train home but he was due to have a meet and greet with the invited audience, answer more questions and have photos taken which would have been great to stay for, but I would probably have been stranded in London....
My wife, not a big DM fan, thoroughly enjoyed the evening and has asked for the set list to be put on her iPod.
As it was acoustic and new, it was good. He related that it was written at the studio in Virginia when Robert Randolph was also there and Dave had to interupt the party so he could go and get the track down before he forgot the song!!
I think the song will appear on the next DMB album rather than a new solo one.
Forget my post about it being a completed version of the old song Sister. Jake from Ants says it is completely new and Dave doesnt even remember that old song.
thats sweet. i hope dave busts out some real random songs tomorrow. stuff he normally doesnt play solo

Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"
