D-35 + New Strings = Fret Buzz, Help?

I purchased a D-35 two months ago and it came with a light gauge martin string, I believe. The guitar sounded amazing up until I change the strings. I put on D'darrio phospour bronze extended play light strings and I get horrible fret buzz now. If I strum extremely lightly, it does happen, but other wise it does. I never heard the buzz once with the other strings. I am wondering if I am doing something to mess up the action when I change the strings. I start with the lowest string and move up. Maybe you are supposed to alternate from to and bottom going in? Maybe it doesn't matter. I am going to take it in to get the action adjusted I think. But I was curious if anyone else has had the same problem. This is the second guitar this has happened to as a result of switching to those strings. So i am wondering if they have a different tension than most strings causing this. I also don't always get the fret buzz, the lower and higher frets are no problem. Its when I play in the 5~10 range. So the intro to repunzel would have buzzing on every note. Any thoughts? Thanks.

the way you restring doesnt matter, you just shouldnt keep it stringless for like more than an hour.

sounds like you may have had mediums before and not known it, i would bet if you restrungwith meds or heavies, you would get no buzz

Also, be careful of humidity, if youre heat is on, it can suck the moisture out of the guitar causing it to warp. Just changing the strings shouldnt cause buzzing, have a proffesional look at it. I might only need a truss rod adjustment which you can do yourself.

D35 comes with medium gauge by default.

Get back to medium...

If you want to use light gage strings go ahead and do it. If the guitar has very low action, and then you went from mediums to lights, then it may just be that the neck needs to get adjusted to compensate for the reduced tension from the strings.

I think we solved the mystery then. The martin strings must have been medium strings and now the light strings are causing the probem. Switching from light to medium did the same thing to my last guitar, so it makes sense.

I put on new strings yesterday and the problem went away. I decided I would try the Eric Clapton's Choice Medium Gauge, I personally think they sound amazing on my guitar. The D35 always had great warmth coming from the lower strings, but these strings help bring out the tones on the high strings too.

on a D35? no thank you and i suggest stearing clear from that advice.

What he said. If you mess with your truss rod on a D-35 you'll be pissed you spent so much money on it.

oh cmon, as long as youre not a fucking retard you can adjust the truss on anything, just 1/8th turns at a time with a half hour to set inbetween

A related question. I got my Alvarez AD80S action lowered a bit a couple months ago. If I play aggressively, the low E buzzes pretty bad (open). I told the guy to set it up for lights, will putting mediums on it eliminate the buzz? Or should I just take it back to him?
