Question about Shure Ear Monitor and other items...

If you buy a Shure PEM with the headphones and body pack but NOT the receiver (no wireless operation) what exactly does the cord plug into? The the board? And what types of cables would one need?

I'm new to PEM but now have a full band and the stage volume is too loud the wedges aren't giving me enough vocals.

I need any advice on purchasing PEM's and on what brands are good and the best deal.
