A day or two before. Make sure you have a back up set as well. Doing it a day before lets them settle in and not go out of tune all the time. Plus, you'll get a better feel for them.

Yeah, I would definitely give it at least a day or two so they get broken in, you don't want to play with too fresh strings or they'll go out of tune.

I hate when I put them on at first, love them the second day, then am ok with them for like a week, then I hate them again. So I keep them on for months at a time.

I'm on my second day right now and I love them. Yesterday I hated them. We'll see how it goes from here.

if you are using 80/20s, put them on the night before and play for about an hour straight, then tune em up before you put it down. give em a quick tune before you go on and you'll be money for the show, and you won't lose the puch they have. if ur using anything else just follow what everyone else said.

I definitely agree with everyone else here. But never get elixer acoustic strings. Ive had them break too many times the day I put them on, and its not like they come cheap either

i've broken one elixer string ever and it was the A string because I tried a new way of wrapping them around the tuner and my tuner didn't like it at all and cut the bitch.

yeah, but you are notorious for lying, so.......

and I use light mediums and never break them. Hmmm, if they are so notorious, why is it that we all keep using them....
