He uses 0.6mm Dunlop Tortex picks. The standard picks are orange in this thickness, but Dave uses custom black versions with a DMB logo printed on them.

I use the giant triangle picks that Fender puts out (medium). I have monstro hands and regular size picks just don't fit in my fingers. There are also giant triangle picks that have differnent thicknesses on each end, giving you different options while you're actually playing.

I 've started to use thicker and thicker picks with my electric, and the tortex 1mms are my choice picks. When playing lead the thicker picks are more effective IMO.
