New Alvarez RF20SM

Post by CWMCALL »

I just received this guitar...it will definitely make for a nice travel guitar. It wasn't that expensive so I won't have to worry much about it getting beat up. I paid $300 for the guitar, hard case, and shipping. Not a great deal but not bad either...

Here are the specs and a few pictures that the seller emailed to me before I bought it...

    * Pearl + White Stripe Soundhole Rosette
    * Pearl Microdot Fingerboard Inlays
    * WBWBW Purfling

don't know what those retail for, but looks like a very nice $300 investment.

that thing is damn gorgeous, but a picture is hardly evidence that the guitar is the "best bang for your buck hands down" Czech, the way a guitar looks is hardly important especially in the economy-low range

Alvarez Yairi are the most underrated guitar, in my opinion. I have a Yairi (DY84) and it plays as well as any Martin or Taylor and you'd pay twice as much just for the name.
That's a very nice looking guitar I love the no pick guard look or is it clear? Either way it's sweet.

I'm a huge alvarez fan, got two 6'ers and a 12 string and I love em. That guitar does look very nice for 300 bucks, and yea it's only a picture but I assume it plays well because its an alvarez.

Ross, can you find Yairi's in many guitar shops??? I've never seen one around where I live and I've always wanted to play one. How much did you pay for yours?

Fuck I love Alvarez. There's a guitar shop here that has a shitload of them. In the high-end room, where they keep all the high end Taylors and Martins, they have like 8 $2500+ Yairis. They are so fucking amazing. I love the Martin 28's but if I had that kind of money, I think I'd go with a Yairi.

Anyways, that looks very nice for $300. I played the mahogany RD8's (I think that's the model it was) and they were very nice.

Also, I just found out they stopped making my AD80S. I think I got it in its last year. I love it.

The Yairi's are here and there, I got lucky and they had the one I wanted. I got mine or $850 (US) with a hard case which is sweet because it's like canvas (sp?) on the outside instead like plastic or pleather. But what's so special about Yairi's are their hand made by some dude named Yairi something in Japan and they use scalloped braces.
