fret adjusting

Post by PureDaveAddict »

Hey, all my strings are giving off little rattling sounds when I play, do I adjust the bar inside the neck or something to stop that?

Either your action is too low or you have some strings touching on the headstock. Take it to a guitar shop or luthier to have them check it out.

I've noticed the same problem when I hit certain frets/strings. My action is already relatively high, though. Does it cost anything if you take it in for an adjustment?

it just depends on where you take it. my mom got my guitar at a pawn shop as an x-mas present. she took it to a little guitar shop near my house and asked them to look at it and make sure it played right and all that...they made all the adjustments, and put strings on it for free...all she had to do was pay for the strings. *shrugs*

I'd agree... I think when I looked into getting a guitar setup, it was going to be like 30-35 bucks. So I didn't do it :) HAHA!

i go into guitar center all the time and they have shown me a lot and i haven't payed for a single thing yet. once you see how to do the truss rod it really is no big deal. it's like driving, once you learn, it's pretty easy. so then i would have them check that.

and if there is already high action then i would say it must be the frets. you can get them redone for a reasonable price. and if your personable with these people they will cut you some huge discounts. (possibly free) i just got my oil changed at Jiffy Lube for the price of the oil cuz i was out there bull shitting with the guys and they were like "college boy we are gonna cut you a break" and i was like "totally". and at guitar center i am in there almost once a week so they hook me up.

it's not what you know but who you know....
