LIOG long jam, help!

I have done some searches but have not really come up with anything I can use. I am having real difficulty getting the fingering right for the long jam part down. It seems like using my 3rd finger to mute the D&A strings is the only way I can get the G&E strings to ring through by themselves. Can anyone show me a picture or a video of the 'proper' way to play this? I was hoping it would come intuitively, but so far no such luck...

edit: this is valid for the 2nd part of the jam too (the 12 x x 12 part)

Thank you for the post. When you are using your 1st finger to play the E string and mute the two others, is the tip of your finger extending past the E or is it right on it? I have always played barre chords with the end of my finger hanging off the neck (big hands I guess), and I can't seem to play that one string while muting the other two with the same finger.

u are pressing the E string w/ ur pointer and muting the other 2 at once
it's a matter of exercise
anyway, u can start muting just the A string and play the open D one (it will sound fuller in this case)

ive always found it easyer and better sounding to
always have your ring finger on the G string,
and always have your middle finger on the e string,. then simply lay your pionting finger over the strings behind those to to get the mute. a slight pivot of the hand and slide is then all you need to change chord. easier and sounds better ue to more natural mute............imo

Any chance of seeing a video of this? The main site doesn't have anything, and all the videos in other threads are either of different parts of the song or are too far away from the fret board to really make out any detail.
