Pearl Jam Daughter tuning question

Post by nate »

Hey all I was just wondering if it is actually safe to tune the low E string up to G or should I tune down to G. It just seems like tuning up would cause to much tension and the string will break. Any help would be great. I was playing it last night with it tuned down and the string was so slack it sound like crap. thanks again.

They tune it up. I've done it. It didn't seem to hurt anything. You can always compensate and then capo wherever.

Low E up to G? Not the best idea, but I doubt it breaks.

I've never broken a string going to this tuning, even when my strings were pretty damn old.

Tuning the high E up to a G is far more likely to break, the low E is quite a bit safer.

thanks mattj i'll give that a shot as well. Especially when I don't feel like messing with the tuning.
