Get a Mexi Strat and use the extra money to change out the pickups.

man, it's tough...the way stuff is made these days, it's so hit or miss...if you're not spending around $1500, there's not much point spending over $600 or so...I've got a Jimmy Vaughan strat for a backup that sits around my room that plays pretty well. It gets descent tone and has a pretty fast neck. It's a mexi though so you have to play a few to find a descent one. The trick about Mexi's is to play a lot of them. For the most part, it's the same parts as in an American but the construction is often very lacking. I'm almost tempted to offer you a deal on my Jimmy Vaughan strat though and sell an acoustic and get another Custom Shop strat to replace my SRV...I'd say in any event, give the Jimmy Vaughan sig a chance. I wouldn't spend the extra money for American at this point. Put it into a good tube amp...

GODIN.

I got mine used for pretty cheap, and it is very solid. Good tone, very versatile. Now if I only knew how to play it well.

Or you can get a Mexi Strat for cheaper, and cahnge out the pickups for that. You will have a better variety of pickup possibilities and more selection of tones....IMO.

depends on what you like. if you like les paul-like or hollow bodies...get this one. i freaking love it. i've had it and i've not found one thing i didn't like about it. my uncle who's been playing blues professionally since he was 17 said it was an awesome guitar and wanted to get one. that was before i showed him the price.

get the action adjusted and the frets sanded down to a uniform height and have them adjust your pickups, truss rod ect. Im not really sure what all my uncle did for mine, i put in a single coil pickup in place of one of the humbuckers. The electric also depends on what sound you want

I personally think the Schecter C-1 Classics are fucking amazing. They look like a PRS and sound pretty sweet too.

This is what I'm getting soon hopefully. Awesome feel and tone. I went into my guitar shop and played one of these for about an hour first time.

It was priced for $600

I would give both nuts for Trey Anastasio's guitar.
