Getting screwed via EBAY Vulture

Post by hd28v »

I bid on great tickets for the DMB Riverbend show in June and was winning with a great deal for more than a day. However, that all changed with 5 seconds to go when someone outbid me by 2 bucks. Was a guy with over 1,000 transactions, all being concert tickets. That bastard will obvioulsy sell tickets for much more.

Thats why you gotta bid more than you are currently bidding(by like 5 bucks or so) so the vultures can't get ya ;)

you should find where he lives and beat him down for taking what was rightfully yours :P

Unfortunately, no one uses e-bay to ethical standards anymore. I've found that 99% of the time that if you want something, you better be on e-bay prepared to re-bid before the auction comes to close. Otherwise just bid a rediculous load of money and run the risk of having to pay it.

Either way works....it's sad but it's how it goes.

Ah man, fuck that. If it was another fan, I wouldve been dissappointed but ok with it. I hate scalpers. Sons o' bitches.

Dirty...

Post by CPTino3001 »

Though it is an extremely dirty practice, you could always use an auction sniping program to ensure you win the auction...

CP, I'm willing to bet that's exactly what the guy being talked about in this thread used.

Whether it's worth sinking to his level to get what you want is up for debate.

I dont understand why people are complaining that they got out bid (even if it was at the last second) - that's what auctions are for...people to bid...of course it's going to happen more so near the end of the auction.

That is why ebay has "proxy bidding" bid the absolute highest you are willing to pay for the item. Then it will bid for you. If somone outbids you then you shouldn't be worried because it was higher then you wanted to pay.

That's just the way I see it anyway.

I do see why you are angry that a broker got them..that does suck. But the fact that you were outbid does not suck

Three days ago I was an Ebay virgin with the buying and selling. I now now what proxy bidding is and I should have used it for I would of had a greater chance in winning the tickets. Nonetheless, I just got tickets for the Cincy concert off ebay today and am happy. As a matter of fact I used proxy bidding.

Funny you mention that. I bought pavilion tickets so now I have to sell my lawn tickets for the same show and also need to unload my Columbus tickets so I can get tickets to other Riverbend night. I never can make up my mind! Wish I was rich and could see all shows, travel by air, and own every Martin model there was. However, I am a in debt college student.
