Past beginner, into "middle stage"

Alright, so I'd say I'm past the "beginning stage" and heading into the "middle stages" of learning how to play Dave songs. What would you guys say are some good in between songs to learn? Not real hard, but not as easy as like Crash, and the easier songs? What is some happy medium songs?

I'll throw a couple more out there: work on these and your timing and rhythm will really improve.

I'd say that I'm in the middle stage too, and I can play most all of those but Dancing Nancies and Spoon because I haven't really looked at them, and Don't Drink the Water and Crush because those are tuned differently and I don't even want to have to bother with that.

I'd say that Lie In Our Graves is a good middle one, as is Warehouse, and both are LOTS of fun to play.

Yeah id say im probably in that "middle stage" too, I can play like 20 of his songs. I can do Big Eyed Fish, Lie In Our Graves and What Would You Say, but thanks for that list gravedigger, i'll start workin on those

i dont really know the rankings of difficulty....i mean, i can play trippin billies well, but cant really get the verse of what would you say...i just went with what i wanted to learn and learned them, regardless of difficulty...

jimi thing? ants? recently?

It shouldnt take more than 15 seconds to retune to drop D

It shouldnt take more than 5 seconds to retune to drop D

I think there should be a thread (if there isnt already one) on levels of difficulty for songs. Ex. Begginers should be able to play...... [x] and Advanced players should play......[x]

Dave's stuff really isn't that tough to play. Unless by "tough to play" you mean "my fingers aren't used to stretching that far yet".

Learn a lot of the stretch songs, like #41, Crazy, Tripping Billies (do this one slow until you get it down....it really helps your playing ability if you can work on this one), and So Much To Say. Oh, and also Two Step.

And if you have the time, learn to play Satelite cleanly and consistently. That helps on stretching also.

Don't limit yourself to certain songs based on what "level" of playing you think you are at. Dive in, see what happens. If you can't play it right away, work at it.

To not play certain songs because you think you can't, without even trying first, isn't right. If you want to learn Jimi Thing or #41, then by all means, learn them.

Sometimes I try to play a song for a couple of days and I just can't get it completely.
Then I forget it for one or two weeks and when I get back to it it's usually much easier!

Totally. For instance, I tried to learn Ants the third day I had my guitar. Took a while but even if I still was a "beginner" technically, I could play the song well after a few weeks or so.
