What Guitar?

I am looking to buy an electric guitar for around 200 dollars. I was thinking about a Squier Strat. Any comments?

I have been playing acoustic guitar for 5 years. I have been learning tabs that are meant for electric recently and wanted to have that option.

ive got a squier strat. i'll be the first to admit its not a great guitar, but i still dig it. i plug it into a carvin amp and can get a decent sound out of it. if you've only got 200, go with the strat.

How about a Washburn WI-64? Would you go with that or a Fender Strat?

I am finding both in the 300 dollar range.

if youare now looking at things in 300 dollar range, consider at least a mexican strat. That is at least a decent guitar.

I am not a big fan of strats at all. But if you are stuck on that then get a Fender strat and not a Squire. I would recomend an Ibanez electric for around 300, or a Les Paul of some kind. Probably the Les Paul over anything else.

les pauls are WAY overpriced. A 1500 fender beats a 1500 les paul any day. of course that is opinion, but a damn good one

Any guitar the people buy a lot of will be overpriced. Look at Taylors, and most Gibsons. So many people buy their stuff, so they can raise the prices if they want and still have people buy from them. I think it sucks but its good business.

People buy a lot Fenders (Im sure more then Gibson's) and their prices are more reasonable.Plus, Gibson resorts to suing companies for random shit. A lot of other companies seem to have a Strat-looking guitar but you dont hear about Fender suing.
