Taylor ES

Can I buy this separate and install it in a guitar? If so how much will the pick up cost, and how much to install it? Can I install it myself?

no you cant. it includes a pickup in the neck which requires a special neck. you can however buy a bridge transducer and a soundhole mic and mix em for a similar sound. thats what i plan to do when i build my acoustic

Why would you want an ES? They're lousy. Especially out of a Taylor. Do yourself a favor and go with some good aftermarket Fishman pickups.

Well everyone seems to think so highly of it. I thought it was fairly good.

I dont know if I will need to buy a new pickup but the one I have now is crap. It might just be a pickup malfunction and the store can fix it. But I have to call. Just trying to think ahead.

Any Ideas on good pickups? Preferably like an under the bridge system or one that clips on the bottom of the body. Like something I can install myself.

I have one and my friend has one and they sound fantastic and work great.

Hmmmmmmmm. Perhaps, but I still think you're better off with a good aftermarket pickup.

If you're looking for a pluuged in sound that actually soiunds like an acoustic guitar, you should NOT be playing the ES. ES is poo. I love Tayolr. I play Taylor. I have many. I've tried many a taylor in showrooms, and they all sound kinda like JAzz electric guitars. All tech issues aside, it's the sound that I cannot stand. even with that super wham-o-dyne Neve EQ, it doesn't sound natural. If you think otherwise, you're just trying to justify your purchase. ES is Poo. Either that, or you haven't played more than cowboy chords on it. As you move up the neck, you'll hear what I'm talking about. The sound changes dramatically. Kinda like when you pick the notes over the neck, or when you play a hollowbody electric. It does not do the jobit was created to do.
