do you know how to change an electric guitar pickguard?

Post by boy52 »

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a website that teaches how to change an electric guitar pickguard. I recently bought an SRV strat which needs a pickguard-makeover... Personally, I'm not too keen on the whole S-R-V banner on the axe.

Thanks for any feedback!

1. you take the strings off. DUH
2. take the knobs off.
3. take the screws off.
4. the screws on top of the pickup off.
5. then the pickguard should come right off.
Are you guys working with a musical genius..

all of the pots will just screw off, the switch top comes off, just pull real hard. replace and re-screw.

I took off my pickguards, since I don't use them, and helps with the tone and volume on my arch top, and shows off my les paul wood more.

On Strats, though, I would keep it on. I'd put on a union jack pickguard ;) .
Yes, I am in a box

Thanks for the feedback guys -- pickguard makeover was successful. As for the Union Jack design, I'll have to convince myself thinking out of that one. It'll be safer sticking with my tortoise shell.
