sudden string buzzing

Post by ballmeblazer »

last week i put a set of d'addario medium's on my guitar and lately i've had a huge amount of string buzzing. i used to have lights on, so the gauge isn't that different. i haven't done anything to change the action or anything else to the fretboard. thoughts? is it just that my fingers need to get used to the thicker strings(barre chords are specifically noisy) or could be something more serious?

buy elixirs, it wont help your problem but at least you wont be playing with d'addarios :D

Anyway, as for the problem, try tightening the screw on the tuning head of whatever string is buzzing. I dont know what else to try, do a search I know this has come up before and there were a few suggestions

Try not singing next time you play with elixirs, I think that may be the cause of the homosexual squeaking.

j/k, but I dont find nanos to be squeaky or annoying. I hate d'addarios, but everybodys different.

On a side note, does anyone notice any tonal differences between elixirs and d'addarios? I know abnout the coating and the squeaking, but are they tonally similar?

i think daddarios have more tone, but thats probably because all the d's i play are meds and my buddy plays elixir lights. its most likely the gauge and not the company

meds don't necessarily have better tone than lights. It's about how a particular guitar sounds with different strings. Believe it or not some guitars sound better with lights than meds.
