Lowering The Action

Post by Flakes »

So I have been playing electric for the 6 months i have been playing guitar, but recently got an acoustic. I'm finding it hard to play and all the strings sounds muted on barre chords. My guitar teacher told me to get the action lowered. I think this is the best idea as it should be easier to play, but will it afffect anything and is it the right choice?

errr... technically if your action is higher you should get better sound. but, lowering your action wil make it more playable. It will decrease your tone slightly and you may get more buzz than you before had, but if done correctly there should be no problems

i suggest going to a guitar shop and play around on different guitars with different action. See what you like,.

Yeah, I bought a Tacoma a few years ago and the action was really high on it. Got it lowered a few weeks later and it plays like a dream now. :)
