Open Mic ideas.

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Open Mic ideas.

Post by NonSequitur »

Hi guys,

Could I pick your brains?

A friend and I are doing an open mic night at a pub in town in a few weeks. He is good enough to either emulate or play note for note the Timmy parts (lucky bastard!), and I've been practicing the Dave parts to all songs for a couple of years, so can pretty much play 90% of them all through well. I'd like to know, if you were heading off to an open mic night, what songs would you REALLY like to hear? Which ones would knock 'em dead? I'm having trouble narrowing it down to a few songs...Bear in mind this is in England, so most people won't know any of the songs...

Cheers guys.

Are you looking to Blow away the audience regardless if they know the song or do you also want them to know the songs too.

I would play Billies, Ants, Minarets, Typ. Sit, & Crush if I were to play with someone who has the talents of Timmy.

The songs I listed have pretty good acoustic jams in them which would allow for some great soloing for your buddy. But, really any Dave song will do.

Bartender - Dave's drinking song.
Or Nancies, do a nice drunk man intro.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I go to open mic every friday. It's a weekly thing for me. A few hours ago, I did 1 original and 2 Pink Floud songs.

I say do these three:

Wish You Were Here (great for 2 guitars, and well known by many ages)
John the Revelator (pre JTR)
Warehouse
Yes, I am in a box

STJL would be cool, especially if you could nail the outro.
