Who's going to see "Because of Winn-Dixie"

Post by Morphius »

I know just about everyone who's been to this site more than once is going to see Because of Winn-Dixie. Anyone have any particularly interesting plans for its release?

I am torn right now as to which way to go. I'll either take a lady friend, since it is a chick flick after all. Or, I could get my fellow Dave Matthews friends together and we'll have a party in the back of the theater.

Anyone else have any good ideas?

It's a family film, not a chick flick.

Edit: I say this not to correct you, but to ensure that you're not going into it with any false impressions. From what I hear from those who have seen screeners, even adults can enjoy it, but the primary target is most definitely children.

I might see it, but again just for Dave. I want to see what kind of musical contributions he makes throughout the film.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I'm definately going to see it. It sounds like a very nice story, and people who have read the book tell me it's a wonderful book. Also, I would love to see Dave act. So many critics loved him in c'ville, and even the guy who did the SMTS music video said he would be an awesome actor.

chic flick, family film, whatever . . . they are just stupid levels. I consider there are only 2 types of movies, good ones and bad ones.

Probably the worst part of the movie experience for me will be trying to keep from becoming boring by talking about Dave too much. ;)

And yea, I've heard from many people (including those who don't know who Dave Matthews is) that the book is really enjoyable and that they supposedly did a good job of capturing whatever makes the story great (I've never read it) in the movie.

Edit: I purposely spelled it Morphius and not Morpheus to try to avoid those types of comments

I am not going to see it in the theatre. I rarely go to the movies & Dave acting is not a driving force for me to go.

How big is his role? It's not a two-minute spot, is it?

I think it's a fairly large role.

From what I hear he has an "average role." He's more than a minor character, but he doesn't appear in the TV trailer I've seen on TV. So I assume his role is neither tiny not major.

It would be nice if someone who read the book hung out here :)

kinda weird but as i clicked on this thread to read up, a trailer for the movie came on the tv. dave was in a good amount of the commercial so its safe to assume hes gonna be a somewhat key role
