After the 5/7 before I go back to D I hit the open G, it just sounds fuller and it sounds like it does off L@LC IMO. Does anyone else play it like this or know what im talking about?
I usually play em as bar chords. one, because I'm not Dave, two, it's a lot less hand movement when playing and singing. Still sounds pretty good. I can also play it a bit more precussive with the bar chords when I want.
I play the open G D when I do the jam in the middle with the minor 7th chords (Boyd's solo).
Percussive sounds come from how you strum, I can make an open D string sound almost as percussive as a D chord by hitting that and muting everything around it.
when you guys say you hit the open g after the 5/7 slide, do you mean the open g string? That's what I'm assuming...someone help me out here. I'm not really sure what you're saying you do.

Ya after the 5/7 slide instead of going back to a D I hit the open G string 1st. I wasnt sure if anyone else did that since the tab doesnt show it.

I think what he means by the second slide is the last one (out of the two) after the G-chord (the 5/7), not the second one (of the first two) after the D.
