Guitar Picking Speed

How do I get my guitar picking fast enough to play notes on one string like in the Stone and Loving Wings?

thanks, are there any tricks to it or just practice? And what's alternate picking? I just started playing about a month ago

start slow until your pick memorizes the string and then build up speed. as spoon said. practice. and as tran. alternate picking...up down up down up down up down like tremolo.

take it real slow at first, too.

Learn scales and just alternate picking up and down the scales.
