Seeking help recording to CPU via Adobe Aud.

I am getting ready to throw something ... I recently purchased Adobe Audition (cool edit's new persona) and I am currently playing through an acoustasonic sfxII amp.

a. How (if at all possible) do I connect to my cpu?
- I have been connecting through the mic input with input levels turned way down on my sound card and volume turned way down on my amp. Still, the sound recorded is hideously loud and distorted due to surpassing the optimal db levels.

b. Since my sound card does not have L/R (or red and white) sound inputs do I need a new card?

c. Do I need a new card anyways because it's the stock one that came with my cpu?

The simplified question at hand: How do I go about connecting to my cpu once the solutions are discovered (i.e what wiring or technology do I need?)?

Have you tried connecting through the line-in instead of the microphone input? It is an unpowered input and thus shouldn't have the volume or distortion issues. Open the volume control, switch to recording mode (it's under a dialog box under file, can't remember the exact name), then select the line-in slider by clicking the checkbox.
