Wireless Unit

Post by dpresti »

I'm thinking about buying a wireless unit for my guitar, when playing live....

anyone here use them? if so how different are they from brand to brand? i see dave uses the Nady 950 wireless unit.

how do these things hook up? if someone could give me a complete setup? unless its too complex. also, how would i hook my acoustic affects pedal to this?

it goes like this:

Guitar -> sender ~airwaves~ receiver -> pedals -> amp

id recommend against these though. unless you get a really good one there will be a significant loss of tone.

i cant really recommend one... id just recommend sticking with cables... better quality sound and cheaper.

buffalo/nigara falls ny....i'm sure if i told them i was thinking about buying this, they would let me... i mean its one of those products that you need to use to see if you like it right? well they let you play a guitar/amp before buying.. its a local guitar shop.. good size to it..

obviously i wouldnt go to guitar center for such a thing. IMO guitar center is only good for boredom, going there to fill time playing the expensive guitars

I haven't had a problem with loss of tone running through a wireless system. I'm surprised Dave uses a Nady system, though, Nady is really more of a 'budget' wireless manufacturer - they must have some higher-quality stuff too.

I don't own one personally, I use my church's equipment, but we've used Samson's, EV's (ElectroVoice), and AT (Audio-Technica) in the past. I don't know model numbers off the top of my head, but you should be able to find some. I personally really like Audio-Technica. Samsons are good too, although sometimes their reception isn't as good.

AT is good for anything sound wise.
