Dreadnaught vs. Folk

Post by czech »

So i'm looking into getting a new guitar and am looking for a cutaway dreadnaught, but i was wondering, What's the real difference between a cutaway folk vs a cutaway dreadnaught???
And which do you guys suggest getting?

P.S. I'm shopping for an Alvarez RD or AD series

i tell u the difference, a folk guitar is a big ugly thing that no one likes unless they have one. Dreads are nice.

Seriously though folks tend to be louder and smoother
dreads tend to be a little quieter and have that more metally, raw sound that I personally perfer.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": The food court is downstairs. The cookie stand is upstairs. It's not like we're talking quantum physics here.

Theres a body of guitar that is called Folk, at least with alvarez because my girlfriend was gonna get one and the body style IS called folk. From Alvarez's site:

RF8

Body Style Folk
Back/Sides Mahogany
Top Spruce
Finish Natural Gloss
Body Binding Black Multi-layer
Fingerboard Rosewood
Tuners Covered
Bridge Rosewood
Electronics N/A

Oh yeah, buy the Dred, it seems with alvarez's, the folk style is a more girl/beginner guitar. Its a bit smaller and easier to play for small people, like girls
