Seagull guitars

Im selling my only electric guitar, a cheap Strat, to a buddy to help pay for my new Seagull that I'm ordering. Im getting some sweet electronics (LR Baggs) put into it that definitely aren't stock. This one SPOKE to me: http://seagullguitars.com/products6+cw.htm

I haven't ordered it yet and it takes like at least 6 months to come in cause they're handmade, literally, and come from Canada. Basically, what does everyone think of these? Does anyone have one? If so, what do you think of it? Thanks for the input.

I own an s6 anniversarie edition, which is pretty nice, but its just a beginner guitar. Youre getting basically the same thing, but with a cutaway and electronics installed. Its got really nice tone considering I didnt pay much for it, but having now played for several years I think I would have bought something else. My largest complaint is the neck width. Its much too wide for the stuff I like to do. If you like it though, go for it. Theyre a great value, and if the damn neck was .05" narrower, I wouldnt have a bad thing to say about it.

do you know what your getting into with a cedar top? i've never heard a cherry backed guitar but i'd make sure you play that guitar or any for that matter before you throw down the cash to get it.

Of course I've played it

I played it for about 25 minutes unplugged and 15 plugged in. I just loved it- couldn't put it down. I hadn't heard of a cherry-backed guitar either, but its gorgeaous (a very deep red) and it has a very "warm" sound to it, which is what I was looking for.

two of my good friends have seagull guitars....they are both really happy with them, i have played theirs and they sound great, theirs werent cutouts nor did they have electronics...but that could only make it nicer

Because I wanna make sure that I'm getting what I pay for. I have to pay a good portion AND sell a guitar to get it, unlike some of these other rich kids on here

Seagull is one of the better values for sure.

Cedar is a softer wood which makes it better for fingerstyle playing. I've heard that it tends to break up when strummed hard.
If you do a lot of medium to hard strumming I would go with a harder would like spruce.

i own a seagull, and its a great guitar! i own a M6 Spruce, i dont know if seagull still makes it but its a great guitar...great sound, easy to play, and very affordable...it was my second guitar and i wanted to buy a guitar that was cheap, but also a good guitar, so my friend showed me his s6 seagull and decided to get one..it is made very well only from wood in canada and let me tell you the sound is great..go to a store where they sell em and play around with a couple, you'll love it

Shoot... I just looked up the models and the one I want only comes in a cedar top. Now what? lol I'd have to order it totally custom and I don't have the money for that.

It's not that much of a difference. There are a lot of myths and overreacting in any hobby. If you manage to break the cedar wood by strumming, then I want your autograph. However IMHO spruce often feels nicer when smooching the guitar (I do that, don't ask.).

It's kinda like this, no matter what wood you get, the most important thing is that it's good quality wood. And apparently, on Seagulls, it is.
