need help with muting...?

can anyone give me some help on muting strings or what i am suppose to do when the strings have "x" on them, i know i am suppose to mute them but i am not sure how? thanks

yea....rest any finger you can over the X string... or... if you are using a finger to mute the string above the X string, then just tilt that finger so it rests on it a mutes it like what shane wrote.

You can mute with your strumming hand too, it's called palm muting. :wink:
