Quick Problem playing

Hey ive been playing guitar for just over a year and I picked it up extremely fast and i can play pretty much every dave song and sing to most. I have 2 problems. I have veeeery dry hands and I taught myself to play so I hold the pick a little different, so I drop the pick all the time. I have to constantly lick my fingers to get a grip on the pick but by the end of the song it dries out and slips out of my hand. It feels weird trying to hold the pick the "normal" way. Does anyone have absolutly any suggestions on these????
