It is a program that actually plays the tab back to you in midi format and it's becoming increasingly popular. Basically, you can listen to the tabs and it helps a LOT with learning songs. Download the software at the website under the downloads section, then look up tabs on the website and download them. It's amazing.

wordpad

(notepad doesn't allow you to use the insert button. Without it, it's a pain)

another option is Guitar Pro 4. I think they have a demo you can try out on their website. I don't have the website... and i'm too lazy to look it up, but google it.

I heard Winglet82 v2.0 was a good tabbing program.

Wordpad, not notepad. Notepad doesn't allow you to insert, so there is a lot of type delete going on. With wordpad, you can use the insert key to type over, so no deleting. You set up the basic tab setup:

Code: Select all

e-----------------------
B-----------------------
G-----------------------
D-----------------------
A-----------------------
E-----------------------
and then you just use insert and just type in it. With notepad, you type something, the allignment goes weird, and you have to delete certain --- to make it alligned.

So, use Wordpad.

You can make some kickass MIDI songs w/ that Power Tabs program. I made some D&T MIDIs in that fashion, due to the multi guitar tracks at the same time. They're pretty sweet, and the program is much easier to use than any real MIDI composer!
