$1990 for a Taylor 414ce with Koa back/sides and Sitka top

Post by charliemike »

Price I was quoted for a pristine '99 was $1990.

Good/bad/dead-on?

For a 914ce? I'd take it. I actually thought you were selling it by the looks of the thread title.

Oh damn, see, I have 914 on the brain. Ok, then yes, I think that is pretty spendy for just a 414. You can get a 615ce for 2k brand new if you talk them down. So why go for something less for almost that much.

I have no idea how to valuate this guitar ... I'm told that Taylor doesn't make a Koa 414ce anymore ... Plus it has a Fishman blender.

So let's say this guitar is in AAAAA condition (best) and Rosewood and SS top is $1400 ... Does Koa mean it's that much more? I couldn't care about exclusivity. I liked the way the guitar sounded but not for an extra $600.

Thanks for the responses guys.

NO FOCKING WAY.

Jesus that's expensive. I got my K20ce new for $2300.00 and my 710ce LTD for 2k even. That's out of this world.

Koa is rarer, and prettier, but a largely inferior wood to rosewood. I bought my Cocobolo first, which sounds very similar to rosewood, and then I got my Koa guitar.

A thousand or less for that 414ce.

Yeah, I'll second that. $1900 for any 400 series is out of line.

Just so you guys know:

8th Edition of Acoustic Guitar Blue Book has the 414ce listed at $1550 for 100% condition (which the guitar is). So I'd be getting raped for about $440 and not $990 :)
