Where to go....

This is the place to talk about guitar playing not done by Dave! Topics about techniques, styles, theory, and other guitarists go here.

Where to go....

Unread post by phatnev » Tue May 11, 2004 7:37 pm

Ive decided that Im going to pretty much just stick with acoustic guitars...no electrics, so I figure Im going to be playing alot of rythm with a bit of blues and jazz thrown in....any suggestions on where to go? I can play pretty decently, Ive got a bunch of Dave down...I do have major ADD though I get sick of trying to learn a song for too long especially if it has a ton of parts to it. So any basic blues songs progressions or points on where to go?

And what would be the best method of improving my rythm playing?

Work on your scales to you can improvise. Clapton is great for blues.

learn the basic 12 bar blues progression if you don't already.

I do electric and acoustic, and I play them both the same. You can play whatever on acoustic and electric, the guitar just gives a different sound, the style is up to the playing. You can play rythm on electric. Bob Dylan does pretty much only rythm and he plays electric as well as acoustic. Dave plays his style on the Baritone and the PRS/Gibson/whatnot the same as on his acoustics.

Again, the guitar just gives a different sound, the style is up to you. I play only rythm on my electrics, and it sounds fine.
