Violin time!

hey guys,
im gonna start playing violin... anyone know of a good one in the sub $300 range? ... i know "good" is used loosely in that range for violins... and if it turns out that it's something i enjoy i'd consider buying one of the electric ones for playing live with it... but until then... anyone have any good stories or experiences with cheapos?
